Robin Rigg, the 180MW 60 turbine offshore wind farm located in the Solway Firth, began generating power earlier this year and is now celebrating the completion and full operation of the site.

Rt Hon Chris Huhne MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, said: “The completion of Robin Rigg brings the UK one step closer to meeting its renewable energy targets and the team should be very proud of that.”

Robin Rigg has the potential to generate enough electricity to supply the annual needs of 117,000[i] homes and to displace the emission of 235,000[ii] tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
The scheme will be E.ON’s third offshore wind farm in the UK after Blyth – the country’s first offshore wind farm – and Scroby Sands. E.ON is also a partner in the London Array, which will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm when built.
