Aberdeen-based OEG Offshore (OEG) has successfully completed a £2.2million deal for a major offshore wind farm project, the firm’s first venture into the renewables sector.
The company – which specialises in the design, build and rental of cabins and cargo carrying units for the offshore oil and gas market – delivered 18 custom-built Local Equipment Room modules for use on the first phase of London Array, which will be located in the outer Thames estuary.

The completed units, which were contracted by Siemens Transmission and Distribution Limited, will house electrical switchgear, workshops and emergency refuge on the wind farm’s offshore sub-station platforms, and have now been transported to Belgium for installation on-deck before they are shipped offshore next year.
Craig Russell, Commercial Director at OEG, said: “The London Array project was OEG’s largest contract win in the renewables sector and marks a successful start for us in an area of the energy industry that we hope will present us with a high level of new business opportunities going forward.
“The 18 modules that were designed and delivered to Siemens were similar to units that OEG has previously supplied for other offshore projects, so we were able to bring a significant amount of tried and tested expertise to the contract.
“A crucial factor in securing the contract was the ability to supply the required units within a tight timescale, and Siemens awarded the deal on the basis of OEG’s excellent reputation for on-time delivery.
“The offshore renewable sector is an area of strategic growth for OEG and one in which our expertise and experience in the offshore oil and gas industry can be easily transferred, as demonstrated by the success of the London Array contract. We intend to expand our share of this rapidly-growing market and will be looking to gain further contracts within the UK and internationally.”
