The North West and North Wales Offshore Wind Supply Chain Event on Tuesday 8 February 2011 will offer workshops, seminars and exhibition viewing to 500 delegates. The offshore wind industry is showing significant growth with substantial business opportunities for suppliers across the UK and internationally.

Engaging local supply chains will be critical in enabling the UK to deliver ambitious renewable energy targets. This event supported by The Crown Estate and the government is part of that engagement process and one of a national series of events.

Free of charge for delegates, this event is being delivered by Envirolink Northwest and The Mersey Partnership with support from the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS).

A number of major companies have now committed to participation including Dong, Siemens, Alstom, A2SEA, CT Offshore, JDR Cables and many others. Designed to provide both current and potential supply chain companies with an insight into industry requirements and procurement procedures: the aim of this event is to equip suppliers with the knowledge and contacts to win business in the industry over the next few years. Delegates will also have a valuable opportunity to network with hundreds of other companies from across the UK’s offshore wind industry including developers, turbine manufacturers and suppliers.

The event will take place on 8 February 2011 from 8.30am – 5.00pm and is being held at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, Wirral. The morning session will include business case studies as well as an update from the government and The Crown Estate. In the afternoon delegates will be able to participate in three of four workshop sessions that are designed to allow key companies operating to outline requirements and procurement in four principle areas:

• Turbines and Installation

• Substations, Transmission and Distribution

• Operations, Maintenance and Logistics

• Cabling and Sub-Sea Services

Ross Dixon, Renewables Business Development Manager at Envirolink Northwest said, “It’s critical that suppliers gain as much project experience and identify relevant partners as soon as possible, if they are to compete effectively for work in Round 3 developments. This event is designed to make that possible by providing key information from major potential customers and extensive networking opportunities.”
