Blue Offshore and Integrated Subsea Services have completed their feasibility study on the possible use of multipurpose DP2 vessel Normand Tonjer for array cable installation on offshore wind farms. The scope of the study included development of deck layouts for cable installation and cable burial together with vessel properties, mobilisation and installation strategies. The study was carried between November 2010 and January 2011.

Blue Offshore director Gerard Kroese concludes: “We believe that Normand Tonjer is suitable for conducting subsea cable installation and burial operations. In fact, the addition of cable lay and burial equipment on top of the existing ROV, survey and air diving capabilities will make Normand Tonjer one of the most versatile dynamically positioned vessels in the renewable energy industry.”
