Geckotech Solutions is planning to expand into the renewable energy sector after agreeing a new financing package.

The Edinburgh business is a specialist in industrial rope access and confined space engineering services with clients ranging from the Forth Bridge to oil and gas companies.

Now it has secured £225,000 of funding from Clydesdale Bank to target onshore and offshore wind farms across the UK to provide inspection, maintenance and repair work.

Stephen Pearson, managing director of Geckotech , said: “Wind energy production is a key focus area at the moment, with onshore and offshore wind farms making a significant contribution to the Scottish Government’s renewable energy targets.

“Turbines require regular inspection and maintenance work to ensure they are working as efficiently as possible. The access engineers at Geckotech Solutions are fully qualified to carry out this type of inspection and maintenance.

“This is a business area that we have been keen to explore for sometime, and the credit facility offered by Clydesdale Bank has given us the opportunity and flexibility to do this.”

Geckotech’s most recent turnover was £1.2 million but it expects to double that in the current year.
