On the pre-conference day, October 4, SGS will hold two workshops on technical risks and Risk Management in offshore wind farm projects.

SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing, and certification company, is attending the third annual Offshore Wind Construction, Installation and Commissioning Conference in London, UK, on October 4–6, 2011.

The Offshore Wind Construction, Installation and Commissioning Conference, held in the Grange City Hotel in London, has built a reputation as the annual meeting point for business leaders, technical specialists, and investors to learn about recent developments and improvements in the offshore wind sector as well as to secure robust partnerships to grow their businesses.

The three-day event is a perfect occasion for SGS Industrial Services to demonstrate its wide portfolio of Renewable Energy services and to meet potential business partners. On October 4, 2011, at 4 p.m., SGS Industrial Services will conduct two workshops on technical risks and Risk Management in offshore wind farm projects. While the technical risk review workshop will focus on the technical risks inherent in offshore wind farm projects and walk the participants through the life cycle of such projects, the Risk Management workshop will concentrate on the Risk Management process for a project and explain the benefits of its application to offshore wind farm projects.

One of the main concerns in the wind energy industry is the availability of wind turbines and the reliability of the structures. The reliability and availability of wind turbines depend on various factors. Even a minor failure can cause undesirable downtime, which affects the key stakeholders such as manufacturers, owners, investors, and insurance companies. The workshops will explain the potential risks involved in wind farm projects, which may cause downtime in energy generation, they will demonstrate how to execute a successful wind farm project with a case study, and they will introduce the process of project Risk Management to mitigate the risks of unacceptable downtime and loss in order to maximize revenue.

With Risk Management for Wind Energy Projects, SGS ensures that possible wind farm risks are identified and handled in a timely manner for the successful completion of wind farm projects. SGS provides the most effective Risk Management practice available in order to eliminate possible cost escalations, project delays, accidents and incidents, and environmental damage as well as brand damage.

SGS is eagerly looking forward to the Offshore Wind Construction, Installation and Commissioning Conference and hopes to convince the attendees that its range of services and the breadth of its expertise are practically unrivaled.
