With the Isle of Man Government giving serious consideration to the increased use of renewable energy, MCT’s David Ainsworth was invited to speak about the development and deployment of MCT’s award-winning SeaGen tidal turbine and the commercial potential for tidal stream energy in UK and overseas waters.

David addressed a seminar, organised by the Better Energy consultancy, at the Broadway Cinema in Douglas on October 11th.

According to a Government study of the Isle of Man’s marine energy resource, the most favourable locations for tidal stream power are identified off the north of the island; there is a potential for up to 18GWh/y.
