OSBIT Power (OP) was established in 2010 to develop new technology in offshore engineering with the aim of making a significant contribution to the rapidly growing offshore wind market, and is rapidly making its mark with its MaXccess offshore access system.

OP’s ambitious expansion plans are underlined by two new appointments, Ben Webster joins the company as Sales & Marketing Manager and Robbie Blakeman as Senior Engineer.

OP is an independent company founded and staffed by a team of engineers, based in Northumberland. The existing OP team has long experience in the design and build of many kinds of offshore systems in offshore wind, wave and tidal stream, oil and gas, submarine telecom and defence.

Ben Webster will be responsible for coordinating OP’s sales and marketing, including the launch of new products related to OP’s offshore access technologies, and continuing to establish OP in new sectors – it has already made its mark in the hydropower sector. Ben joins OP from IHC EB, where he was Sales Manager.

Robbie Blakeman, who joins having been Manager of EB Solutions, will further strengthen the OP engineering team, focussing on delivering tailored offshore equipment consultancy, design and build projects, on spec, budget and in time – OSBIT. He has been delivering complex engineering solutions for over 10 years. having designed, built and operated a wide range of systems in the offshore wind and oil and gas sectors. His background in solving complex mechanical problems in an offshore context is an excellent addition to OP’s existing experience and track record. This combined depth of experience allows OP to offer effective and commercially realistic solutions for offshore applications.

Tony Trapp, OP’s CEO comments: “With the addition of Ben and Robbie, OP is well placed to exploit the huge potential of MaXccess, our innovative offshore access system, while continuing to offer consultancy, design and build services to offshore markets. Since forming OP, in a short space of time we have created what we believe will be a safe step forward in offshore access. We look forward to Ben and Robbie making a significant contribution to helping OP capitalise on these early achievements.

“Robbie brings a wealth of experience, having been integral to the success of the world’s first installation of a wind turbine from a floating vessel, BOWTIS, and more recently leading the engineering effort on a wide range of offshore design and build projects. Ben in turn has previously successfully led the development of products and securing of orders for complex offshore systems, working with a wide range of clients and offshore markets. We look forward to him achieving similar success for OP.”
