SIAG Schaaf Industrie AG – the leading manufacturer of steel components for wind energy turbines – will participate at the World Wind Energy Conference for the first time this year.

After a successful exhibition in Istanbul last year with 400 conference participants and 1000 exhibition visitors, the WWEC 2011 will take place in Cario, Egypt.

The wind potential in North African countries is ranked among the highest in the world. 95 % of the total installed wind power in Africa is found in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco. Egypt has set a renewable energy target of 20 % of total electricity generation by 2020. Wind energy is expected to make up 12 % of this share.

In December 2008, the construction of a tubular steel tower productions site in Egypt served as a vital cornerstone for the SIAG Group’s activities in the MENA region. Since 2009, SIAG Elsewedy Towers S.A.E. – located in Ain Sokhna near the Red Sea – produces tubular steel towers for the wind energy market in Africa and the Mediterranean market.

The production site has a total area of 250,000 m² with more than 24,000 m² of production area and an annual capacity of 600 tower segments. Production is adjusted to German quality requirements and processes, allowing us to provide highest quality and delivery reliability at attractive conditions.

„Egypt is currently experiencing a change which will prove beneficial for both the people and the economy. The government is intent on making wind energy a major part of its total energy share by 2030. However, it is of utmost importance and necessary that the domestic market establishes an intelligent method for Local Content Regulation. We have the most modern production site in the region which exceeds the legal norms for work safety and environmental protection many times over. These factors must have a higher priority to our customers to ensure growth“ , says Christian Adamczyk, Head of Marketing of SIAG Schaaf Industrie AG.

SIAG Schaaf Industrie AG
