WindEnergy Hamburg, the new leading international wind energy expo, will be held for the first time from 23 to 26 September 2014. The decision was made by the Expo Advisory Board, which has now been set up.
It comprises experts from leading wind energy companies backing WindEnergy Hamburg, and will now provide advice and support for development of the new dedicated wind industry event in Hamburg, which is tailored to the main concerns of this global industry. The Board members appointed so far are representatives of wind turbine manufacturers including Siemens Wind Power, REpower Systems, GE Renewable Energy and Nordex SE; major equipment suppliers such as SIAG Schaaf Industrie, Winergy and Bosch Rexroth; energy companies such as Vattenfall Europe Windkraft; the industry association VDMA Power Systems; and other institutions from the onshore and offshore areas. Further members will be added to the Advisory Board as needed for the relevant market segments.
WindEnergy Hamburg will be held from 23 to 26 September 2014, giving the fast growing global wind industry a great opportunity for optimal presentation at the new Hamburg Fair site. The site is equipped with the latest, highly efficient logistics, it has direct links with all modes of transport, and it is located at the heart of a vibrant cosmopolitan city. Hamburg is also home to a whole range of major international wind energy companies – all the more reason to choose this location. Hamburg’s growing importance as the European wind capital was also a key motivating factor for the increasing number of voices calling for the world’s leading wind energy fair to be held at this outstanding international exhibition site, making it the ideal platform for the growing onshore and offshore markets. WindEnergy Hamburg has support from a large number of major companies, and in particular from VDMA Power Systems, the responsible division of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA). That makes it possible to keep this leading international fair at the technology powerhouse which is Germany, and to expand it still further.
Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC) will now work in cooperation with the Advisory Board in the coming weeks to specify in detail the roadmap for best possible orientation of the new leading wind industry event. “A total of about 150 GW installed offshore wind power is forecast for the EU as a whole by 2030,” says Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress. “The goal of the German government for offshore wind power in German waters alone is 25 000 MW. That is an enormous challenge for industry. That is why Offshore is a key subject which we address explicitly at WindEnergy Hamburg. As we also host SMM, the world’s leading trade fair for the maritime industries, our site is already a meeting point for shipbuilders, ship owners, ports and logistic companies, and that is likewise of the greatest interest for the offshore wind energy market.” The scheduling of WindEnergy Hamburg for a time shortly after SMM 2014 takes account of this powerful synergy effect.
WindEnergy Hamburg covers the whole value chain of the wind industry – for the onshore sector and the fast growing offshore sector. This leading international event will reflect the dynamism of the industry, and developments in the current and future key markets throughout the world.
