Alnmaritec, the specialist aluminium boat builder based in the North East of the UK, announced today at the EWEA Offshore 2011 exhibition that it has been awarded a contract for two of it’s new Wave Master class of wind farm support vessels.
The new order was placed by North Sea Logistics one of the UK’s leading and most experienced offshore service providers who currently operate fifteen vessels in the market and have already completed over one million turbine transfers. The vessels are the fifth and sixth in line of this highly successful class from Alnmaritec two of which are already in service and have generally been accepted to be amongst the top performing boats in the market. The company in fact built the very first wind farm service vessel in the UK for the same operator and it has been at the forefront of the development of this type of vessel for the last decade delivering over twenty such craft to the industry. This particular order also establishes a further landmark for Alnmaritec being the 150th vessel built by the yard.
The new boats will be 19m x 7m and fitted with fixed pitch propellers giving a top speed of 27.5 knots. Commenting on the new order from the show Alnmaritec Managing Director Chris Millman said “We are delighted to have secured this order from North Sea Logistics.
