Industry experts will tackle the challenges of “reaching further and going deeper” at next year’s subsea flagship event – Subsea 2012, supported by principal sponsor Shell.

Subsea UK has today announced the theme for its annual conference and exhibition which will attract around 2,000 leading figures from the across the global subsea industry to Aberdeen on 8th and 9th of February 2012.

An impressive conference programme on Wednesday 8th, featuring a world-leading line-up of industry speakers, will run in parallel with an exhibition showcasing innovative subsea technology and services.

The conference will cover a wide-range of topics including offshore renewables, the latest developments in subsea and marine construction, global subsea markets, new technology, safety performance and future skills.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “Subsea 2012 is the leading event on the subsea industry’s calendar and brings together a wealth of participants from across the globe who are leaders in their fields.

“As the subsea industry continues to be at the forefront of oil and gas development in new frontier areas, going deeper and further than ever before, the sector must keep ahead in terms of research and development as well as maintain its market share. This year’s conference provides an excellent opportunity to explore those challenges and hear the industry debate how best to tackle the challenges.

“The subsea industry has had an exceptional year with unprecedented growth which puts it in a strong position for the next 12 months.”

The high profile speakers include Paul Jones, head of subsea at Chevron, Chris Bird technical director from Centrica Energy Upstream, Luc Riviere of Total’s R&D Deep Offshore team and Douglas Westwood’s Andrew Reid, who will discuss long tie-back concepts and the trends in the subsea market from 2012 to 2015.

Parallel sessions will also be available for delegates to attend which will address the key issues of the day from oil and gas technology transfer into renewables to creating a future talent pool.
