NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. (“the Company”) commends Premier Christy Clark and the BC Government on its recent re-commitment to the clean-energy sector in British Columbia, in support of jobs, economic prosperity and environmental stewardship for all British Columbians.

“Premier Clark’s Natural Gas Strategy provides a clear vision for job creation and leadership on clean energy” said Michael O’Connor, President and CEO . “This provincial commitment to developing the LNG industry also recognizes the importance of the renewable energy sector as a key to securing a strong economy and a legacy for generations to come, with a long-term commitment to fueling domestic energy needs with local, clean energy sources,” concluded Mr. O’Connor.

“On behalf of the NaiKun Team, including our industry and First Nation partners, I applaud this vision and look forward to continuing to work with the BC Government, Coastal First Nations, northern communities and industry to develop LNG to maximize the benefits that made-in-B.C. clean energy will deliver to all British Columbians and abroad.”

NaiKun Wind Energy Group Inc. is a British Columbia-based renewable energy company. Located on B.C.’s northwest coast, where the wind resource is one of the strongest and most consistent in the world, NaiKun Wind’s 396MW offshore wind project would generate enough energy to provide electricity to 130,000 B.C. homes. The project is expected to result in an estimated 500 jobs during construction and 50 permanent jobs for maintenance and operations and over $400 million in direct expenditures in the province during construction, of which $250 million will benefit North Coast communities.

The NaiKun Wind project is at an advanced stage of development, with environmental approvals and agreements in place with key suppliers and First Nations and is now in a position to begin construction within two years of receiving an energy purchase agreement.
