Considering the development and expansion requirements of its onshore and offshore wind farms, the energy company Vattenfall is seeking to hire around 170 engineers, lawyers, merchants and developers, by the end of this year. The positions are available in Germany (Hamburg), the UK (London) and Denmark (Esbjerg).
Vattenfall is one of the largest producers of offshore wind power in the world and wants to consolidate its leading position even further. In the fall of 2012, the company started construction of the DanTysk offshore wind farm in the North Sea, around 70 kilometers from the island of Sylt. In the upcoming years, Vattenfall is planning to build a Sandbank offshore wind farm near DanTysk.
During the planning and construction of these wind power projects, there will be a great need for skilled workers.
“As the offshore industry is relatively young, the parties often do pioneering work. We use the experience from the construction of the first German offshore wind park Alpha Ventus and from our international projects, but we are entering new territory every day,” says Georg Friedrich, Head of the Offshore Wind Projects at Vattenfall.
The energy company already generates 4 billion kilowatt hours of electricity from wind on annual basis. That is enough to supply more than one million German four-person households.
