The investment offer for EnBW Baltic 2 offshore wind farm appears to be very popular: many municipal utilities, industrial companies and institutional investors from Baden-Württemberg and Germany are interested in participating in the second EnBW’s Baltic Sea wind farm.

“We are delighted to be well received. In addition to partners who have already participated in EnBW Baltic 1, utilities from all over Germany, industrial companies and financial investors are showing interest.“ Said Stefan Thiele, CEO of EnBW Renewables GmbH.

More than a hundred public utilities and enterprises attended the information meeting on the key points of the investment offering. Approximately half of them have shown interest. The participants will have submitted their offer with the purchase price by mid 2012.

EnBW Baltic 2 is four times as big as EnBW Baltic 1 – and will generate six times as much electricity. Wind farm will be located in the Baltic Sea, 32 km north of the island of Rügen.

The depth of the sea varies between 23 and 44 meters. Depending on this depth, the installations are mounted either on steel piles, so-called monopiles (up to 35 meters deep) or steel-framework-structures, so-called jackets (starting from a depth of 35 meters).

With a yearly output of about 1.2 billion kWh, EnBW’s Wind Park Baltic 2 will be able to provide electricity for about 340,000 households per year, and save 900,000 tons of CO2.

EnBW’s aim is to increase the share of renewable energy in its energy mix. By 2020, EnBW wants to reach 3,000 megawatts of installed renewable energy capacity. The share of renewables in domestic production of EnBW would then be around 35 percent. EnBW is planning to invest a total of eight to ten billion euros in the energy transition.
