Europe’s premier wind energy event, EWEA 2012, takes place in the capital of Denmark – the world champion of wind energy – during the country’s Presidency of the European Union.

Danish Prime Minister, and Chair of the EU’s rotating Presidency, Helle Thorning Schmidt, will attend the opening session, as will Crown Prince Frederik. Danish Energy Minister Martin Lidegaard will chair a panel discussion on European energy supply towards 2030.

The EWEA 2012 annual event will include the following highlights:

• Key statements and conference participation of the Danish Prime Minister, the Danish Minister for Energy and of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark;

• The launch of a major new study on the impact of the wind industry on Europe’s economy, growth and employment;

• The publication of the Global Wind Energy Council’s ‘Annual Global Market Report 2011;

• A journalist boat trip to visit an offshore wind farm and an installation vessel;

• The main EWEA 2012 press conference on Monday 16 April, followed by lunch and an opportunity to meet key conference participants informally.

The last day of the event coincides with an Informal Council of the EU Energy and Environment Ministers in Horsens, Denmark.

The conference, whose theme is ‘Innovating today, shaping tomorrow’, features some 33 sessions in six tracks: policies, financing and hardware technology, grids and infrastructure, science and research; markets and programmes, and resource assessment.

Over 330 exhibitors have already booked a stand and pavilions have been confirmed for Danish, Dutch, French and British exhibitors.
