Fugro Seacore have announced today that they have signed a contract relating to the design, build and installation of an offshore met mast to record and monitor site conditions on the proposed Rampion Offshore Wind Farm site in the English Channel, 13km off the coast of Sussex, UK.
“ We will be working on this project until April 2012 ,” explains Dave Buzzard, Project Manager at Fugro Seacore. “ The design we are working to is for a 46m long 2.5m diameter steel pile, weighing 170t. We will be working in 20m of water, with our jack-up barge ‘Excalibur’. We are aiming to drive the pile into the seabed. A T10 reverse circulation drill will be available onboard to supplement the hammering if drilling is deemed necessary .”
Fugro is subcontracting the design of the met mast structure and steel fabrication to preferred experienced suppliers.
