TÜV Rheinland and EuroWind have agreed a strategic cooperation to combine their wind energy services. The cooperation agreement was formally signed in Cologne recently.

The aim of the cooperation is an intensive dovetailing of their services for global wind energy projects. TÜV Rheinland has developed a range of testing and certification services for the wind energy sector and is pursuing an expansion path in the industry. Accurate and realistic predictions of potential yield and computer simulations to optimize wind park configurations are recognized as crucial factors for the success of wind energy systems and are necessary to obtain the financing of projects. When these abilities are added to the established TÜV Rheinland testing and certification of the technical features of turbines and wind energy infrastructure, the combination produces a comprehensive wind service offer.

“With TÜV Rheinland we have gained a reliable and competent partner,“ says Dr. Thomas Sperling, general manager of EuroWind. “Of course, the worldwide presence of the company also opens up many new possibilities,“ says the expert. Eckhard Lippold, executive director at TÜV Rheinland, adds: “Our cooperation with EuroWind enables us to offer additional expert knowledge and this represents a win-win situation for both companies.” In fact, wind potential assessments are just as in demand as bankable yield prognoses and turbulence modeling. “Here, EuroWind offers proven expertise with some outstanding reference projects, both in the onshore and offshore segment”, says Eckhard Lippold. The companies will now pursue the goal of establishing a clearly stronger market position, by concentrating their strengths and core competencies and expanding their service portfolios.

Founded in 2001, EuroWind began as an innovative company for wind and yield evaluation. Since then, EuroWind has been the specialist for high-value wind energy assessments, for numerous banks and investors. With its own proprietary and highly flexible three-dimensional method of computer simulation, EuroWind has quickly asserted itself as the expert for long-term yield forecasts, including offshore wind parks. As one of the market leaders in short-term wind yield forecasts for the whole of Europe and China, EuroWind contributes to optimal grid integration of renewable energies in the electricity networks. In addition to numerous European transmission system operators (TSO) and renowned energy companies, many power merchants and direct sellers also rely on the quality of EuroWind’s wind wind power forecasts .

TÜV Rheinland already offers wide service range in wind energy. The company supports manufacturers and operators all over the world with reports, measurements and concepts, and carries out risk and damage analyses as well as certification services. When it comes to construction, TÜV Rheinland offers many of the planning services that are demanded such as location analyses and subsoil investigations, as well as the supervision of manufacturing, coordination of statics, structural analyses, quality control and construction supervision, for example for the towers and foundations of wind energy plants. TÜV Rheinland also carries out acceptance testing, recurring testing as well as construction supervision and testing of wind turbines.
