According to Grimsby Telegraph, Grimsby Renewables Partnership announced close cooperation with a group of various town companies, interested in taking part in maintenance of turbines in the North Sea, £1.6 billion worth project and numerous other projects related to renewable energy.
The firms agreed to register as a legal entity and constitute its management, comprising of a chairman, vice-chairman and ten directors. The founding companies which will serve as a basis for expanding the group, making it as efficient as possible are Grimsby Fish Dock Enterprises (Port of Grimsby East); North East Lincolnshire Council, Cosalt Wind Energy, ABP, RES, Windpower Support, Grimsby Institute and Balfour Beatty.
The eight founding companies will be awarded with permanent directorships while four will be elected at an annual general meeting. The annual fee for membership will equal to £500 per business. The scope of activity would range from port operations, maintenance activities to professional services.
“A total of 45 organisations expressed an interest in joining following our last meeting. There is a really good mix of services that we can provide and promote, all from this area. They range from sole traders to the largest company, which has about 14,000 employees. It is quite a range,” chairman of the group, Winston Phillips stated.
The partnership is expected to result in attracting external funding for many upcoming infrastructural projects availing of the existing experience in the business. The aim is to constitute a base consisting of 50 businesses, which would mean £25,000 worth initial capital.
“Those with five or six years’ experience of this industry can be considered old hands in a sector still in its infancy. There is a lot of experience and knowledge, in the partnership as it stands, and we don’t want to lose that. In the future as the emphasis changes the members of GRP may wish to review that, but we are still at the beginning and we need continuity so that is why we have proposed how the structure should be” , Mr Phillips said.
