At its meeting on 30 March 2012, the Supervisory Board of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG appointed Dr. Frank Mastiaux as member and chairman of the Board of Management, effective as of 1 October 2012 for a term of five years.

Since 2007, Dr. Frank Mastiaux has very successfully handled the development and expansion of the renewable energies division, implementing a large number of projects in the areas of onshore and offshore wind power, solar power and biomass. This was part of his remit as CEO of E.ON Climate and Renewables, which under his leadership became one of the global market leaders in this area. Currently, Dr. Frank Mastiaux is heading E.ON’s expansion drive in selected markets outside of Europe as CEO of E.ON International Energy.

A graduated chemist, he previously held management positions in the oil and gas industry in Germany, the US and the UK for more than 15 years. Until 2007, he was CEO of the liquefied petroleum gas business of the BP group in London. His previous management duties included, among other things, business responsibility for Aral and Veba Oel’s marketing and sales division.

“We are very pleased that Dr. Frank Mastiaux, a person with profound knowledge of EnBW’s main fields of business, is joining the company. An experienced energy manager and leader, he has proven his abilities in previous positions, demonstrating that he consistently pursues a given strategy and that he achieves notable successes with great innovative skills and a high level of personal commitment. In particular, he demonstrated that he is able to align companies successfully to market demands and position them as customer-focused service providers. “His experience will also benefit EnBW,” says Dr. Claus Dieter Hoffmann, chairman of EnBW’s Supervisory Board.

“With its systems competency, its focus on customers and partners and its deep regional roots, EnBW will be a significant driving force behind the new energy concept. Even if the energy-industry environment is currently difficult and the tasks are correspondingly challenging, EnBW has the potential and the abilities to position itself in the long term as successful and profitable energy service provider. I am looking forward to working with EnBW and, along with my colleagues on the Board of Management, being part of the motivated EnBW team tackling the exciting tasks before us,” says Dr. Frank Mastiaux.
