Donald Trump will come to Holyrood on Wednesday to state his opinion on the renewable energy proposals of the Scottish Government, both inside and outside the Parliament, reported Scotsman. He will join anti-wind farm protesters who will gather to join forces against the Government’s strategy to increase the number of turbines across the country.
If ministers support the wind turbines installation, it will get in the way of Trump’s arrangements to build a luxury hotel next to his golf course in Aberdeenshire, because 11 new turbines would be visible from the property.
Wind power is supported by 71 per cent of Scots, and the Scottish Government is committed to supply all electricity that Scotland needs from renewable sources by 2020.
Trump accuses Alex Salmond and Lord McConnel that they had assured him that the wind farm development would not go forward, and both Salmond and McConnell deny any assurances of that sort. They also said that Aberdeenshire wind farm proposal is now a subject for the planning authorities to decide on.
“It wasn’t until we built the course that the application went in. We knew the proposals were out there but we were always led to believe they wouldn’t get anywhere,” says George Sorial , vice president of The Trump Organisation .
Former first minister McConnell said: “Mr Trump was treated with the same respect and courtesy that I and my government treated all potential inward investors. It is a pity that he doesn’t return that courtesy now.”
