The latest Renewing the Humber conference offered insights to companies in the area, which are searching to identify the Humber opportunities, This is Grimsby news portal reported.

Grimsby is already serving the growing needs of the O&M part, with manufacturing, assembly and installation logistics considerations for the larger later round projects, and Able’s Marine Energy Park at North Killingholme is entering the final planning stages. Also, the permission for Green Port Hull has recently been granted.

With these facts in mind, it is the right time to begin with the businesses in this field.

The director of the Renewables Network , Sam Pick , said: “It is not a given, it is not guaranteed, that just because a wind farm is going to be built in the North Sea, that the developer is going to use Humber-based companies.

“Local businesses need to deliver at a global standard if we are going to get the market share we need.

“Small businesses need to be training and preparing, getting themselves ready to make sure they are in the sort of shape to pick up the work.

According to Mr Pick, investments in all renewable sectors in this region and off it in the North Sea could be worth up to GBP 14 billion.
