As the Mainichi reported citing officials of Green Power Investment Corp., an enterprise mostly owned by mobile phone carrier Softbank, the company is planning to build a wind farm offshore Hokkaido coast.
Japan’s largest and northernmost prefecture has been chosen by the company due to the strong wind potential at the port, which straddles Ishikari and Otaru.
The size of the offshore wind farm and the schedule of construction have not been decided yet.
