Swiss researchers came to the conclusion that ”the larger the turbine is, the greener the electricity becomes,“ UPI news portal reports.

Namely, the study was conducted by Marloes Caduff and his associates at the Zurich Institute of Environmental Engineering in Zurich, Switzerland.

The wind power is getting more and more popular, currently providing 2 percent of global energy with a tendency to provide 10 percent of global energy by 2020.

The researchers named two main reasons for preferring the bigger wind turbines.

For one thing, the wind turbine companies have the experience, knowledge and technology to build wind turbines with great efficiency, and secondly the new materials and designs allow increase in wind turbine capacity without significant increase in its mass.
