Aberdeen-based offshore training provider Allied Training Services has entered a partnership with Maersk Training Aberdeen worth an estimated £100,000 over the next 12 months to provide its accredited training services to the global energy industry.
Allied Training Services will provide working at height and rigging and lifting training courses to Maersk’s customers. The company has also provided rope access, general safety and breathing apparatus training over the past year to Maersk.
Established in 2002, Allied Training Services Aberdeen provides a comprehensive range of health and safety training courses to the global energy and marine sectors.
Duncan Bonner , managing director , Maersk Training Aberdeen , said: “Our main focus at Maersk Training Aberdeen is on emergency response, however where our customers require other training courses we go out and find experts such as Allied Training Services to partner with.
“We originally chose Allied due to the high standard of their accredited training courses and the quality of trainers they could supply to us and our customers. They also have an excellent training centre by Aberdeen harbour which we can use as and when needed.
“Our companies are well aligned in that we don’t provide any conflicting courses or services so it has been a very mutually beneficial relationship. Over the past 12 months we have trained over 400 people together through this partnership and I look forward to building on this number over the next 12,” he said.
Maersk Training is a global provider of specialist training to the offshore, maritime and wind power industries and is part of the A.P Moller – Maersk Group.

I believe this partnership reflects the success of our joint efforts to provide industry accredited training courses to the industry.
“Allied Training is highly focused on quality and strength of service with safety being at the core of all that we do. We recently received re-accreditation of our DNV ISO9001:2008 standard for rope access training and equipment hire following our three-year audit.
“We are also IRATA accredited and are currently working towards OPITO recognition for our banksman and slinging training courses. In the past few months we have hired two instructors and plan to take on two more by the end of the year in line with increasing demand for our services.”
Allied Training Services hit a turnover of £500,000 last year and is targeting a turnover of £750,000 for 2012.
Allied Training Services designs and delivers training packages to meet individual company requirements. Training can be provided at the company’s custom-built training centre in Aberdeen, at client premises, offshore and overseas.
