DONG Energy has today welcomed the publication of the government’s Renewable Obligation banding review.

A spokesperson for the company said:

“The results of the review show that the Government has considered the solid evidence provided by the industry and made the right decision for offshore wind support.

“Having a reliable regime for offshore wind is vital to our investment and project planning. DONG Energy has a strong pipeline of offshore wind projects and the UK is a key market for us. The publication of the banding review gives us more confidence to continue our UK focus and also helps to build investor confidence in offshore wind projects.

“The next stage will be a timely delivery of the EMR, again to deliver certainty of the market. We need investor confidence in the EMR as well as the RO regime to deliver the investment that will help drive down costs.

“We will continue to work with Government and industry to bring down the cost of offshore wind. DONG Energy is consistently looking for and developing ways to drive down the costs. For example we are installing two next generation test turbines in the UK at our Gunfleet Sands site and have just entered into a framework agreement with Siemens on their 6 megawatt turbines.”
