Drydocks World Chairman, German Economics and Technology Minister Discuss Offshore Wind

Mr. Khamis Juma Buamim, Chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, met Dr. Philip Roessler, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, in Hamburg on the sidelines of SMM. The meeting was attended by Mr. Olaf Scholz, Mayor and President of the Senate of the City of Hamburg, Mr. Bernd Aovdrhid, President and CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress, and Dr. Markus Johannes Voege Vice President – Operation and Production and Ahmed Amin, Manager – Business Relations.

The discussions revolved around existing cooperation, joint projects and the importance of the maritime industry, shipbuilding and marine technology in the global scenario. Dr. Philip Roessler said that the maritime sector and heavy industry, marine, although economic conditions have achieved a high level of sophistication and developments in offshore wind power is of utmost importance to Germany.

Business expansion in this regard is to the tune of millions of dollars and that manufacturing offshore platforms to collect energy and convert it to electricity networks will continue for years to come, which confirms the importance of the development of technology in engineering and construction.

Mr. Khamis Juma Buamim said: “Technical and artistic creativity are the pillars of our business and we implement innovative ideas to support Marine Construction Technology. We already are delighted to be real partners for Germany to get offshore wind power from the North Sea. To be one of the first in the world to build a large offshore wind platform is in itself a real appreciation of our capabilities. We understand that there will be challenges to overcome and we are working as a team with our partners.”
