Following a public consultation regarding the proposal for Walney Extension offshore windfarm, held at the Villa Marina last week, Steam Packet Company said that DONG Energy’s information at the event were misleading.
Steam Packet Company CEO Mark Woodward said: “The Dong Walney public consultation was potentially somewhat misleading to the Manx public as there appeared to be no wall displays showing the adjacent Centrica/Dong additional proposed developments – no diagrams showing the existing Isle of Man routes, and no displays to illustrate or review what wind farm-induced weather cancellations will mean to Island passengers and businesses.”
Subsequently, DONG Energy has issued a statement, saying that their approach is always open and transparent and that they put a lot of effort in engaging with all stakeholders, the Manx Radio writes on its news site. DONG added that, through the Navigational Working Group, the Walney Extension offshore wind farm has engaged with the relevant maritime users of the Irish Sea since 2010.
