Marine Current Turbines have completed move to the Bristol & Bath Science Park, located at Emersons Green, north Bristol. Their engineering, project and business development teams are now located under one roof.
The completion of the move last week coincided with the first anniversary of the Science Park, which acts as a hub for the region’s many science and technology businesses. The Universities of Bath, Bristol and West of England are key stakeholders in the Science Park.
Will Hutton, Chair of the Big Innovation Centre at the Work Foundation , spoke at an event (September 26th) to mark the Science Park’s first anniversary. He said: “For Britain to compete effectively in a global economy, a strong culture of open innovation is vital to building the high value industries of the future. The South West has the ingredients in place to develop a vibrant open innovation ecosystem – international research-led Universities, major blue chip corporates, a potentially strong SME sector which embraces disruptive technologies and a developing skills base. It still falls short of a proper innovation eco-system. However the Science Park offers the potential to provide a new hub to accelerate open innovation in the region.”
Dr Andrew Tyler, Chief Executive of Siemens-owned Marine Current Turbines said: “We’ve been operating from the Science Park’s Innovation Centre for several months and colleagues have been hugely enthusiastic about it as a place to work, offering a vibrant and inspiring environment as well as state of the art facilities.
