States of Guernsey renewable energy policy advisor Matt Des Forges said that the wind, wave and tidal energy will not replace current electricity sources in Guernsey any time soon, writes BBC.

Due to the high cost of renewables, wind energy is expected to be implemented after eight years and tidal and wave after 2020.

Des Forges said that due to the fact that the wind is not always blowing and tides are not always flowing, Guernsey will not shut down its current sources of energy.

“But it is really just part of the energy mix so we should be able to have a proportion of our energy from wind or tidal power,” said Des Forges.
