Before the wind turbine installation at Anholt wind farm was commenced, all activities in the wind farm were focusing on the seabed and the water surface, but with the erection of the first wind turbines, Anholt Offshore Wind Farm has suddenly started becoming a visible skyline – with a more precise height of 141.6 metres.

That is the height from the water surface to the top of the upper blade tip in its highest position. It means that aviation lights are important, and the erection of the wind turbines is planned in a way, which provides the largest possible safety, especially for the air traffic.

All 111 wind turbines are equipped with two fixed, red low-intensive lights. Moreover, 14 wind turbines are equipped with white synchronously flashing mean-intensive lights. The 14 wind turbines are all corner wind turbines, and wind turbines placed along the edge of the wind farm, ie the interval between the lights, never exceeds five kilometres.

In case of wind turbines with red and white lights, the red light will be switched on only in case of possible future hoist operations to the wind turbine; in that case, the white light is switched off.

Both the low- and mean-intensive lights will be placed on the turbine nacelle on the front of both sides of the helihoist platform railing.

In connection with the installation of the wind turbines, it has been planned to first erect wind turbines with mean-intensive light. The remaining wind turbines will be installed either between or ‘fenced by’ the wind turbines with mean-intensive light for air safety reasons.
