Results of a study presented Wednesday at the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA) offshore wind conference in Virginia indicate that large-scale offshore wind projects on the Mid-Atlantic would significantly contribute to the employment rate and economy of the region’s states.
Over 70,000 jobs would be created from New York to Virginia, related to the manufacturing, construction, operation and maintenance of wind turbines. Through the supply chain, another 40,000 people would be employed, while the economy is estimated to benefit a USD 19 billion.
The planned offshore wind industry development is said to bear fruit in ten years, the WSLS news site informs.
