As E.ON confirmed that the Newhaven Port will be the O&M site for the Rampion offshore wind project, the Shoreham Port fell out of the picture as well as its ambitions to create 85 engineering jobs.

The Shoreham Herald news site says that Peter Davies from Shoreham Port thought that its bid presented a good solution for the company’s offshore wind plans.

“Naturally we are disappointed that Shoreham hasn’t been chosen as the location for the maintenance base for Rampion. We are a very busy port with little spare room and it would have been a tight squeeze, but nevertheless we made a bid to E.ON because of the jobs on offer and the likely boast it would give to the local economy. We put in an exceptionally good bid but Newhaven in the end could offer more space and flexibility,” Mr. Davies said.
