A floating buoy system with a modified WINDCUBE v2 offshore LIDAR remote sensor will be deployed in the Gulf of Maine with a purpose of studying wind conditions in that area.
Deployment of the buoy at the UMaine’s deepwater offshore wind test site is expected in 2013, according to North American Windpower news site.
A partnership has been established between Advanced Structures and Composites Center (University of Maine), NRG Systems Inc., AWS Truepower LLC, UMaine’s Physical Oceanography Group and Leosphere SAS to develop this project.
