SRM Projects Ltd. has submitted an application to examine the feasibility of tidal power in south Discovery Passage and Seymour Narrows.

The engineering company will start with a community meeting in Campbell River on November 22 to get a public response on their planned activities, which will be completed in about five years.

SRM Principal Scott Merriam is cited on Campbell River Mirror as saying: “We are seeking support from the community for the investigative activities proposed and intend to address questions and concerns to earn this.”

“If the preliminary resource assessments are correct, it may be possible to generate commercial power in the proposed investigative areas without noticeable impacts,” Mr. Merriam concludes.
