Business leaders are to quiz the Government’s Energy Minister at a Lincolnshire renewables conference. John Hayes will answer questions on issues such as the Coalition’s energy policies after a keynote address at Green Energy Lincs.

The inaugural event will take place on Tuesday, November 20 at Lincolnshire Showground’s EPIC Centre. Mr Hayes, the MP for South Holland and the Deepings, will join a list of expert speakers as they explain why Lincolnshire is well-placed to reap the financial benefits of green technology. While Mr Hayes’s attendance as a speaker had already been confirmed, bosses will welcome the announcement that they will be able to question him personally.

Green Energy Lincs, which is being run by Lincolnshire Media and Footprint Renewables, will take place between 8.30am and 2pm. It is designed to provide the latest updates on the green industry, show the financial rewards offered by the latest developments and promote the county’s renewables firms. The topics covered will include opportunities in agriculture, the tax implications of renewable investments and how firms can fit into supply chains.

Andrew Morton, account director of Footprint Renewables , said: “In Lincolnshire, the county’s vast agricultural resources and expertise makes renewable energy of particular importance and relevance. “However, the industry is fast-moving and rapidly-expanding and requires organisations that are not only fully aware of the opportunity but that also have the capability and capacity to join it.”

Andrew Manderfield, of associate sponsor Streets Chartered Accountants , will offer green firms business, tax and accountancy advice. James Pinchbeck, marketing partner at the firm , explained the importance of businesses keeping up to date with developments in the industry. “Not least it’s because the politics and legislation are changing, along with policies such as the Feed-in Tariff,” he said. “What you think is relevant one day could have changed overnight.”
