National Grid, an international electricity and gas company, has faced opposition in their intention to install electricity pylons across North Wales, BBC informs.

Namely, the grid would connect Horizon’s proposed nuclear power station at Wylfa of up to 3.6 gigawatts (GW), together with 2 GW of offshore Irish Sea wind energy being proposed by Celtic Array, which will also connect on Anglesey.

National Grid has five proposals for the grid connection, including subsea connection, underground power lines and pylon connection.

According to independent councillor Alun Mummery, who represents Llanfairpwll, National Grid is not promoting the subsea and underground options as much as the pylon option.

Burying cables would cost them GBP 1 billion more than they would prefer.
