Ron Cookson, Technip Offshore Wind’s Senior VP has joined the Board of the OWPB, yesterday.
He stated: ‘It is a great honour to be asked to join the Offshore Wind Programme Board (OWPB).
‘We are tasked with the delivery of solutions which will reduce the cost of energy cost to the consumer and bring benefit to industry and the UK economy as a whole. This is an exciting challenge, and one which has been successfully met in other industries where Technip has been involved, notably in North Sea oil and gas, and we need to apply these lessons appropriately in the new context of offshore wind.
‘The success of UK offshore wind also hinges on the sector’s ability to decrease costs while maintaining health and safety, a key value for the wider industry. As the CRTF recognised, reducing costs by improving project processes, design and practices provides opportunities to enhance Health and Safety.
‘I look forward to working with the Chairman, Adam Bruce, and the other board members, to implement the recommendations of the Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task Force (CRTF), of which I was also a member.’
