Denmark: All Anholt’s Wind Turbine Positions Connected to Substation

On 6 July 2012, Nexans started connecting the connecting cables which the vessels Stemat 82 and Toisa Wave were laying on the seabed between the substation and the 111 foundations during summer 2012. Only six months after – on 5 December 2012 – Nexans had completed the work after having connected the last cable string to Energinet.dk’s substation in the wind farm.

All 111 wind turbine positions have now been physically connected to each other. Eight of a total of 12 cable strings in the wind farm have already been energised, and the last four cable strings are expected to the energised within the next few weeks.

In connection with the installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, it is very advantageous that power is available at the wind turbines as installation of the traditional diesel generators usually used to supply the wind turbines with power can thus be avoided.

At the same time, the last task, ie flushing the connecting cables in the wind farm down into the seabed, is being completed. This work is carried out by a so-called ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle), which is controlled from the DP2 vessel Swiber Else Marie. At the moment, 57 of the 111 cables have been flushed down into the seabed.
