After the Renewable Energy Foundation (REF) published a study called “ The Performance of Wind Farms in the United Kingdom and Denmark”, conducted by Professor Gordon Hughes of the University of Edinburgh, EWEA’s Julian Scola has published a comment on Professor Hughes’s findings on wind turbine lifespan.

By taking into account that it has been anonymously peer-reviewed, Mr. Scola doubts the significance of this study.

Moreover, he quoted several statements from wind industry players and authorities, published in media, proving that the lifespan of wind turbines is longer than 10-15 years, what has been said in the study.

“The Renewable Energy Foundation claims to be ‘a registered charity promoting sustainable development for the benefit of the public by means of energy conservation and the use of renewable energy’ although their website is made up almost exclusively of criticism of wind energy,” Mr. Scola concludes.
