Professor Peter Fraenkel, the company’s co-founder and until recently its Technical Director, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List for his services to the UK marine energy industry.

Peter has taken a prominent role in the development of tidal current energy for (more than 15) nearly 20 years and has worked since the mid-1970s on a variety of other renewable energy projects.

He is the inventor of the award-winning SeaGen, still the world’s largest grid-connected tidal stream turbine.

Peter was one of the founders of the British Wind Energy Association, now called Renewables UK, and he is a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Energy Institute and is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Edinburgh.
