A planning application for the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC), regarding onshore works related to the project, has been submitted by the developers to Aberdeenshire Council.

The submitted application is for a cable route and substation compound to the south-east of Blackdog village, which would be a part of the onshore connection between the EOWDC and the National Electricity Transmission System. After identifying an alternative for the cable route and substation compound, Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Ltd (AOWF) will submit a planning application for onshore works to Aberdeen City Council, spokeswoman for AOWF confirmed, the Scotsman news site informs.

A public consultation will be held with the local community, between January 18 and February 8, project spokesman for the EOWDC Iain Todd is cited by the news site.

“The consultation process ensures that the local community and key stakeholders have the opportunity to express their views on the proposals for the onshore works at an early stage, in advance of a planning application being submitted,” he further explained .

Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Ltd (AOWF) is a joint venture between Vattenfall and Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) with development consortium partner Technip, which plans to develop this GBP 230 million project for testing innovative wind turbines and speeding up the development process of offshore wind industry.
