Europe’s first cross-border grid operator for electricity, TenneT, is in talks with German based Allianz SE and the German environmental ministry about billions of euros worth investment in offshore wind farms, reports Der Spiegel magazine.
Earlier this year, TenneT announced that they are gearing up with its investment plans regarding German energy shift to renewables, as the company is currently in talks with more investors.
This is the main reason why Allianz-TenneT negotiations had no success so far.
TenneT is accountable for connection of German offshore wind farms to the grid. The company was criticized and even sued for the delays in these projects.
