North East Lincolnshire Council has approved a Local Development Order (LDO) for a 3.6 hectare part of the Enterprise Zone on Grimsby Docks, which is set to attract companies involved in renewable energy development.
The LDO will simplify the planning process, thus enabling easier acquirement of planning permissions for local businesses.
“Anything which simplifies the process and removes some of the red tape involved can only assist in helping us to attract more businesses to the area,” Chris Holden, chairman of the Grimsby Renewables Partnership , is cited by This is Grimsby news site as saying.
E.ON has secured a planning consent for its offshore wind O&M base on the docks, while several offshore wind companies already operate from there.
With the Local Development Order in effect, specific types of development on the site will not require a planning permission, because the outline planning permission would already be in place for them.
