The Examining Authority has issued its recommendation to the Secretary of State on Able’s proposed Marine Energy Park. The Planning Inspectotate’s (PINS) recommendation and a final decision on the project, which consists of a quay on the Humber Estuary to support offshore wind farm construction in the North Sea, will be published on or before 24 May 2013.
Able Humber Ports Ltd proposals are for a Marine Energy Park on the Killingholme Marshes and North Killingholme Haven on the Humber Estuary. The Marine Park will comprise manufacturing, commissioning, installation and recycling of offshore wind turbines, as well as renewable energy generation from biomass. An ecological compensation scheme comprising both temporary and permanent habitat creation on the opposite bank of the Humber also underpins Able’s proposals.
If the project is granted a Development Consent Order (DCO), Able intend to begin work in mid 2014 with a completion date of mid 2016.
