On the 7th of March, MMT´s survey specialist Ms Sara Andersson will give a presentation at the Foundation day 2013.
The presentation is about the importance of how acoustic surveys needs to be verified by marine geotechnical investigations or video inspections for the offshore industry.
Sara´s presentation will include how marine surveys are performed for the offshore industry and what kind of geophysical equipment that is used. There are different survey methods when installing wind farms at sea, laying of communication and electrical cables, installation of pipelines and when planning bridges and tunnels. During the installation of the gas pipeline through the Baltic an extensive geophysical survey was performed. The objectives were to map the topography, sediment types and all objects of interest. During the First and Second Word War more than 150 000 mines and unexploded ordnances were dumped at sea. To determine the location and condition of the objects, an ROV mounted sensor was designed.
The Foundation day takes place on March 7th 2013 at the Stockholm InternationalFairs in Älvsjö, Stockholm. The theme is “Geotechnics in a new dimension” and is a meeting place for companies in the geotechnical field.
