The Plymouth University’s £19 million Marine Building hosted its fourth wave energy tests since it opened in October, writes This is Cornwall news portal.

Namely, Sea Wave Energy Ltd has conducted test on its WM7 this week at the university’s state-of- the-art ocean tank.

In July 2012, the company tested its prototype WM6 in Cyprus under independent monitoring by the University of Exeter. The prototype showed good efficiency, even with low wave heights.

Dr Stuart Stripling, scientific manager at the Coastal Ocean and Sediment Transport (COaST) laboratories in the Marine Building, noted that the facility will see 2 more devices tested in its ocean tank this spring.

He said: “This facility is world-leading in its ability to deal with the development of marine renewables.”
