Tomislav Debeljak, Managing Director of DIV Ltd. and new owner of Brodosplit shipyard, revealed new and ambitious business plans on March 30, some of them involving offshore wind projects.
Mr. Debeljak addressed his employees in a letter via social media, where he wrote: “I can already announce that next week we will negotiate on 5 sailboats, a yacht and an off-shore project, as well as starting a company that will build a wind park and a company that will build trigeneration ecological gas combined power plant.”
In his letter, the new owner apologized to all the workers that are losing their jobs.
DIV took over Brodosplit shipyard on February 28 and a few days ago DIV’s proposal on providing adequate solutions for redundant employees has been adopted, which regulates severance payments and notice periods in a fairer way than the rights that workers had based on the existing collective agreement.
In June 2012, speaking about the privatization and restructuring process of Brodosplit, Head of Energy Department at DIV, Željko Bezjak announced that Brodosplit will be engaged in the realization of planned projects in the electricity production.
DIV plans to install 400-600 MW of wind power by 2017, with a tendency to increase investment in new onshore and offshore locations. At the Brodosplit shipyard, DIV plans to build specialized vessels, offshore platforms, offshore and onshore wind turbines, components for hydroelectric power plants and gas power plants.
