The project company Global Tech I Offshore Wind GmbH has awarded a contract for the production of ten tripod foundations to Iemants NV and Eiffage Construction Métallique consortium following the European tender.
The new contract was necessary after the SIAG Nordseewerke GmbH filed for bankruptcy in October 2012, and therefore, could not complete an order for 40 foundations.
With the Belgian-French consortium taking over the project, the production of the tripods can be parallelized and thus compensate for time delays from the bankruptcy.
The order for the production of a total of 80 tripod foundations was originally awarded in two lots, in order to absorb a potential risk in the production. The first batch of 40 foundations was awarded to Tripod Global Tech 1, a consortium of WeserWind and Erndtebrücker Eisenwerk GmbH. Over half of the foundations have been completed or are undergoing final assembly. To date, 24 foundations have been installed at the wind farm.
