FoundOcean, the world’s largest dedicated offshore construction grouting company, has announced that it has been shortlisted for the Growth Strategy of the Year category of the Scottish Business Awards 2013. The awards celebrate excellence in Scottish business and recognise the people and companies that are changing the face of Scotland with the goods, services and innovations that they provide.

Jim Bell, Managing Director, FoundOcean comments: “We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted in the Growth Strategy of the Year category. The most important factor in achieving this growth is our investment in personnel as well as our technology, development and research. We are delighted that our achievements so far have been recognised in this way.”

The company’s strategy of transferring its experience and skills gained in the oil & gas sector into the offshore wind market meant that FoundOcean’s revenues grew by 190% in the past three years. In June 2012, based on FoundOcean’s exceptional order book, strong market position, and growth opportunities in both existing and new markets, Ambienta SGR, Europe’s largest environmental-sector private equity fund, acquired a 35% stake in the company.

Jim Bell goes on to say: “This investment has enabled FoundOcean to continue with its planned growth strategy of expanding its high profile presence in the offshore renewables sector by designing and building additional grout mixing equipment, and employing more engineers and operational personnel.”

The Scottish Business Awards Ceremony will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on Friday 21st June 2013. The event aims to demonstrate the fundamental importance of business and entrepreneurship as a powerful force for change in Scotland, as well as further afield. The awards ceremony itself will also be a powerful force for social change: 100% of the profits from the event will be donated to nominated charities.
